Chinese Woman Car Kissing Contest

A 27-year-old Chinese woman won the chance to buy a car for the equivalent of 6p by kissing it for more than 24 hours.
A shopping mall in Beijing invited people to kiss six Chevrolet cars with the one lasting the longest being given the chance to buy the car for just one yuan.

The cars, parked in the lobby of the Xizhimen Jiamao Shopping Centre, had plastic nipples attached to them, reports the Beijing News.

Participants had to kiss the nipples without touching the car. They were allowed a ten minute break every seven hours.

More than 400 people applied to take part in the game, but only 120 were selected, since each car had only 20 nipples.

After 24 hours, there were still 28 participants left so the mall introduced new rules requiring them to stand on one foot with their hand behind their back.

The final winner was Zhang Cunying who was so tired by the end of the ordeal that she could not stand up unaided.

She said: "I was learning dancing, so the body flexibility helped a lot. But the main winning factor was my faith."

World's smallest giraffe is born

At the moment she's a "pint-sized" 5ft tall, but soon things will be looking up for Margaret the giraffe.

The female Rothschild giraffe was born prematurely at Chester Zoo after mother, Fay, went into labour two weeks early.

But mother and daughter are doing just fine and, thanks to hand-rearing by her keepers, 10-day-old Margaret is now tipping the scales at just over five stone (34-kilos).
Tim Rowlands, team leader of the Giraffes section, said: "Margaret is one of the smallest giraffe calves we have ever seen.
"Fay isn't the largest of giraffes and Margaret was also early which might go some way to explaining her size.

"Margaret was having difficulty suckling so our keeping team are now hand-rearing her and she is going from strength so strength.

"We have a good track record when it comes to breeding giraffes and we are delighted to welcome another to the fold."

The birth of Margaret - who is named after Tim's mum - has been welcomed as there are only 600 Rothschild giraffes left in the wild, where they roam the lowlands of Kenya and Uganda.

Margaret's story will feature in the new series of Zoo Days, a Channel Five series which takes viewers behind the scenes at Chester Zoo.

World Largest Clam

World Largest Clam

The geoduck or gooyduck is the largest species of clams on the face of the earth. The clam itself is 15 to 20 cm long, which is pretty big but the really impressive part is its long siphon that often reaches one meter in length. it weighs between 0.5 and 1.5 kilograms, but there have been stories about 7.5 kg heavy gooyducks.

The incredible aspect of the gooeyduck isn’t only limited to its size, but also to its lifespan. It has a life expectancy of 146 years, which makes it one of the longest-living organisms in the animal reign.

As repulsive as they look (personal opinion) geoducks are a delicacy in China and Japa, where they are often eaten raw, sashimi style.

The organizer said the gargantuan cookout is held to promote the country's image as a major cattle producer.

"Uruguay is very small, it's not known for other events so we have to use these kinds of gimmicks so people find out where Uruguay is and what it has to offer," said Fernando Perez Abella, vice president of the National Meats Institute, or INAC in Spanish.
